CARTA E FORMICHE
Carta e Formiche, published in 2005 on behalf of the "Centro di cultura contemporanea Napoli c'è", is not a simple collection of verses, but a set of poems and abstract drawings, often made only with pencil strokes or very simple sketches that effectively accompany the lyrics. Sovente used to collect all these drawings in albums and scattered sheets, cultivating his passion for visual arts and in fact he is considered a refined artist because his artistic expression extends from poetry to painting. The poet, however, did not consider himself a painter and in fact he himself defined these drawings as "cartuscelle" (scattered sheets with impromptu drawings); this diminutive, however, does not indicate a low value attributed to them, better their impromptu character. He often used nicknames to give the sense of everyday language. Note the importance entrusted to insects and in particular, ants. As Alfano states, it is precisely ants that "chase each other on paper and that give the title to the overall work[1]. The importance of animals, often very small, that induce us to reflect on life in all its forms, is in this work underlined from the title and here they appear as bearers of inspiration and mystery. Animals, in fact, are understood as beings animated by magical powers that lead the poet into a world of dreams with their appearances. In this collection the lexicon is very colloquial and close to everyday life, the author seems to recreate a world of fairy tales and dreams. We can observe the interaction of images and verses in the following poems: L’astrale uccello vola, C’era una volta una elle and Ascolta il mio cuore.
