SUPERSTITI
Superstiti is the title of the last work by Michele Sovente and was published in 2009 by San Marco dei Giustiniani.
Here the poet continues to play with the three languages he has always used, to which, however, he adds French, thus continuing his path of linguistic experimentation, outside the box.
The work is divided into seven sections, internally linked to each other, which refer to an overview on the lacerating theme enunciated by the title: Superstiti, as a matter of fact, refers to the continuous world disasters that have broken the chain of existence, leaving survival as the only lifeline.
As Tommasi Rossi says in Dissonanzen Superstiti[1], within the work the poet wonders about many topics, such as his fate, his presence in a very fascinating territory and his link with the past, of which he fears he will lose the memory.
In this work, the telluric movement of Earth lives a small apocalypse of everyday life, where he hopes to be a survivor even of his own existence.
The poet wishes he could live in the memories of the past, but he also knows that the past does not return and therefore he has nothing left to celebrate its absence.
In his texts he celebrates "hope", the vanity of "everything", the illusion that suffering can be alleviated.
Analysing the language of the work, we can see how the poet is influenced by the environmental component surrounding him.
In an article published on May 26th, 2019, Rosa Frullo states: “he would like to live in the memories of the past, he wishes these remains, these stones could re-emerge from the water or the earth as a new 'Atlantis'. But he also knows that the past does not return and so there is nothing left for him but to celebrate the illusion and bear the mourning, the absence”.[2]
The poems in the work do not have a title, they are simply numbered. We can better understand the themes of the work by reading these poems: Les particules ici and Ho preso appunti su appunti.
