CONTROPAR(AB)OLA
The second poetic collection of Sovente, published by Vallecchi in 1981, is Contropar(ab)ola, which shows from the title the intention to play with signifiers. The two words (word-parable) merge together and form the title of the work. In this collection there are references to nature and the book is divided into 5 sections, which allow the author to take on different points of view. They are:

-
The first section, “Epifanie", presents short compositions made of complex lexicon; it deals with subjects such as bureaucracy and the show off of modern life.
-
The second section, “Distrazioni", contains reflections on ordinary objects and phenomena. For instance, a poem is dedicated to a cat, Voce di gatta, focused on the theme of the incommunicability.
-
The third section, “I trucchi del boia”, is a reflection on time, on the flowing of life and memories.
-
In the fourth section, "Prefissario", puns are evident and the lexical research is extended to Greek and Latin. In this section we can find specialized terms, foreign words and a free use of punctuation.
-
In the fifth section, "Sproloqui e Ouvertures", there is room for autobiography. There are unusual juxtapositions of words, which show that the ordinary vocabulary was not able to provide the poet with words apt to describe situations.
To better understand the experimentalism of these verses, you can read Di passaggio and Ab.
